जगदगुरु श्री कृपालु जी महाराज का जन्म 1922 में शरद पूर्णिमा की मध्यरात्रि में उत्तर प्रदेश के प्रतापगढ़ जिले के मनगढ़ गांव में हुआ था। प्रतापगढ़ में प्रारंभिक शिक्षा के बाद उन्होंने इंदौर, चित्रकूट और वाराणसी में व्याकरण, साहित्य और आयुर्वेद का अध्ययन किया।
