I recall the great Winter of 2019 past it was yesterday. My thriving room felt in the manner of a walk-in freezer because the furnace settled to bow to a permanent vacation at 3:00 AM. I wasnt worried about my toes, though. I was staring at my 55-gallon Discus tank following pure, fixed idea panic. Those fish cost more than my first car, and theyre about as hardy as a damp tissue in a hurricane. Without a precise aquarium substrate calculator Heater Calculator, I was basically playing Russian roulette in the manner of a glass box. I had three alternative heaters shoved in there, praying the water temperature wouldn't plummet. It was a mess. Dont be taking into consideration 2019 me.

Most people think picking a heater is simple. You go to the store, grab the one that says "up to 30 gallons," and call it a day. That is a one-way ticket to a "soup" scenario or a "frozen popsicle" tragedy.
