The Government of India Act 1935 was enacted in 1935 and went into effect in 1937. The introduction of the GOI Act in 1935 resulted in the rise of India's federal form of government. Simply put, this act was critical in the formation of a "Federal India." The importance of government of india act 1935 replaced the Government Act of 1919. Since the late nineteenth century, Indian leaders have been increasingly demanding greater participation in government. During World War I, India's contribution to the British war caused the British authorities to realize that some constitutional acts needed to be changed. The GOI Act 1919 was enacted as a result of this realization. This act established a novel system of government known as provincial diarchy, which means that certain government sectors, such as education, will be governed by ministers who are accountable to the provincial legislature. In simple words, this act played a major role in the formation of a "Federal India”.
